To say I am excited is an understatement. Seeing Sauti Sol in studio working together has me getting goosebumps… Or perhaps that is the cold of this chilly Tuesday morning. Whatever the case, I am excited.
I felt lke the new jams they have been putting out in collaboration with their latest signees, Bensoul, Nviiri the Storyteller, Chrystal Asige and Kaskazini are Sauti Sol songs down to their DNA but they allowed these guys on them. And I am of this opinion because of the credits attributed to the track:
Written and Performed by: Sauti Sol, Bensoul, Nviiri the Storyteller, Crystal Asige & Kaskazini
Composed & Arranged: Sauti Sol Produced by: Sauti Sol & Mboks
Mixed and mastered by: Mboks & Fancy Fingers
Additional Background vocals: Okello Max
Bass Guitar: Yvan Kwizera
Recorded at Snowball Industries
Engineered by Trevor Magak
Executive Production: Sol Generation Records
And for argument’s sake, assume with me that I am right and this was a song that was originally intended for Sauti Sol but they elected to make it a collaborative effort to introduce the signees on their record label Sol Generation, then it a teaser of what to expect from their album.
And even if I am wrong, the lads of Sauti Sol have never put out trash. I have one of their albums on my iPod, Live and Die in Africa and I love it to bits. So I couldnae contain myself when I came across a video of them in studio down south in Jozi that features them working in a studio, spitballing ideas and talking about which of their songs was huge -spoiler alert, it was Sura Yako.
All the lads are there, Mudigi, Fancy Finger, Chimano and Bien. Hopefully, we will get to appreciate what they have to offer very soon.
