Ruto’s Sh15m bribe that lured Khalwale to Jubilee – Weekly Citizen

William Ruto gave former Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale Sh10 million as ‘mobilisation’ ahead of his recent defection to Jubilee.
This is not to mention a further Sh5 million payout that the outspoken politician is said to have earlier received from Ruto for purposes of disorienting opposition Nasa’s hold on Western region in the aftermath of the historic September 2017 Supreme Court verdict that voided Uhuru Kenyatta’s election.
Sources privy to the goings on at Khalwale’s Malinya home narrated how the former senator had been reaping big time from Ruto’s bottomless pockets. Ruto reportedly asked Khalwale to submit his budget for elaborate arrangements for the ‘big’ day to a major success.
Not known to question expenditures towards his political cause, the DP is said to have easily met Khalwale’s demands with the rider, unajua mkono mtupu haulambwi.

Ruto and Khalwale when he (Khalwale) defected to Jubilee party

The unprecedented Supreme Court ruling seems to have seen the stars shining on the self declared bullfighter, when the DP went on the offensive to bag Khalwale, ostensibly to play a spoiler role of Nasa’s Raila Odinga.
As if to bide time, Khalwale asked Ruto to allow him to play his cards well even as he did Jubilee’s bidding from the sidelines. This, the DP agreed, would ward off any backlash from the opposition Nasa’s bastion in Western.
The former legislator has since come out openly to campaign for Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid amid claims he is on the DP’s multimillion payroll.
Recently, Khalwale finally decamped from Ford Kenya where he was deputy party leader to Jubilee, in an event graced by Ruto at the former senator’s Malinya home in Ikolomani, Kakamega, where he was officially by the DP before hundreds of supporters.
Khalwale, who until his defection was Ford-Kenya’s deputy party leader, was summoned to respond to charges of gross misconduct leveled against him.
