A police officer stationed at Riruta Police Station has been drugged and robbed of his firearm by suspected criminals.

James Obiri was found lying besides Mtama Road within Highridge Parklands Police Station.

According to a police report filed at Riruta on Thursday, June 20, Obiri was unconscious and could not speak and he was rushed to Avenue Hospital for medical attention.

“Police officers who visited him at the hospital found that he had been taken there by police officers from Parklands in a serious condition. The doctor who attended him confirmed he had been adduced with an opioid poison,” read the report.

He was later referred to Nairobi West Hospital where he was admitted and is currently in fair condition.

His Jericho pistol which was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition also went missing.

However, it is not the first case of a police officer loosing gun to criminals.

On Tuesday, April 16, gangsters broke into a police station in Nandi county as the officers on duty were watching a football match and stole three firearms.
