Europa League champions Chelsea are have named club legend Petr Cech as their new technical and performance advisor.

The 37-year-old recently hanged his gloves after failing to help Arsenal clinch their first ever European titles in May.

He was in goal when Chelsea thrashed the Gunners 4-1 in the final of the Europa League on May 29 at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan.

However, before his famous move to the Emirates Stadium in 2015, he spent over a decade with the Blues, and won 15 major titles including their Champions League triumph in 2012.

Meanwhile, Telegraph Sport reveals that contrary to their earlier reports claiming Cech would replace Michael Emenalo as the club’s new technical director.

The publication stated that the former goalkeeper will act as link advisor between the board and the first-team coaching and playing staff on his return to Stamford Bridge.

The 37-year-old was interviewed by the club’s director Marina Granovskaia earlier and he seems to have impressed during the process.

While Frank Lampard expected to succeed Maurizio Sarri, who joined Juventus this summer.

According to reports, Cech will not play a role in the appointment of the head coach, but his relationship with ex-teammate could be beneficial to the club.

Another ex-Chelsea star expected to make a return to the London club is Claude Makele, who is expected to take up the job of monitoring the loan group.

Meanwhile, Jody Morris would be made Blues assistant coach should Lampard becomes the next manager.

Joe Edwards could also be promoted from the club’s academy to the first-team coaching staff and there could be a new role for Eddie Newton, who has been in charge of the loanees.
