Moi follows son’s burial in state of art Range Rover at graveside – Weekly Citizen

Former President Daniel Arap Moi after failing to attend the funeral service of his eldest son Jonathan Moi at Kabarak University was driven to the late Kambimoi farm for the final burial rites.

Moi followed the burial proceedings from his Range rover which was parked next the grave.

In the car was a Bible which the sickly former President was holding.

Moi was in front seat with a team of medics behind.

The grave soil was taken to the old Mzee in the vehicle for blessings with his final words to his departed first born son ‘go in peace my son’.

Earlier at Kabarak funeral service family and friends gathered for prayers.

The body was from Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi to Kabarak and eventually Kambimoi

At the service, Baringo Senator and Kanu’s national chairman Gideon Moi read a speech on behalf of his ailing father.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga did not attend the funeral as they were in China. Uhuru’s brother George Muhoho read the condolences from the Kenyatta family

Among leaders in attendance were Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi of Amani National Congress and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula, leader of Ford Kenya party.

Others were Chief Justice David Maraga, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Siaya Senator James Orengo and Kanu Secretary-General Nick Salat.
