– Guardiola defied all odds as he led Man City through a nervy season that saw them win the domestic treble
– The Spaniard would often be seen sporting his grey cardigan during vital matches
– He announced in May 2019 he would be donating the cardigan for auction to raise funds for charity
Ardent Manchester City supporter, James Hodge, who lives in the US has won the auction for Pep Guardiola’s famous grey cardigan after parting with £6,000.
The Spaniard wore the cardigan on City’s way to winning one of the Premier League’s most thrilling campaign ever.
He revealed in May 2019 after City’s FA Cup victory over Watford that he would be donating the “lucky” hooded cardigan for auction.
“It’s fantastic to give something personal to the fans who helped us achieve incredible success,” BBC quoted Guardiola.
“I am delighted that this auction has raised so much for City in the community and thank you to everyone who has donated for such a great cause,” he added.
Funds raised from the tactician’s favoured touchline clothing will be directed to supporting families in Manchester during school holidays.
The piece of wear is worth £1,200 and was made by Italian designer Herno.
Guardiola wore the cardigan at least 30 times last season and fans suggested it brought luck to Man City as they won the historic Treble.
