 Safaricom closes Thika Road Mall shop after staff were exposed to COVID 19

Safaricom PLC Sunday morning announced it had closed its Thika Road Mall shop after one of its staff was found positive for COVID-19.

Safaricom says it was notified that one of our staff members working at the Thika Road Mall shop who tested positive for COVID 19. The employee is currently in isolation and receiving appropriate medical attention.

The Staff members who were working with the affected employee have been informed and are currently undergoing counseling and screening to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Following this occurrence, the Safaricom Thika Road Mall shop was yesterday closed temporarily for cleaning and sanitization.

“The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers is our top most priority. We are fully supporting our affected colleagues and their families, through the recovery period by providing all necessary medical care and psychosocial support required, ensuring their wellbeing,” said Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa.

Customers are encouraged to access services from other nearby shops, as well as through its self-service channels which include; Zuri Chatbot, MySafaricom App and its Interactive Voice Biometric System. The firm’s customer care lines 100 and 200 are also available to all customers.
