Italy once again managed to keep up their perfect record as they secured a 2-0 victory over Greece at the Olimpico Stadio on Saturday night in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The Azzurri were tipped to sink Greece with no hassles as the latter have been known to be underperforming when it comes to European competition and the result comes as no surprise.
However, despite being a struggling team, Greece managed to keep up their defence until Jorghino found the back of the net in the 63rd minute through a penalty and Federico Bernardeschi came off the bench to score Italy’s second goal in 78th minute.
Greece have only managed one win and three defeats from their previous four matches and it’s no surprise that they couldn’t come away with a win.
Leonardo Bonucci, Ciro Immobile and Nicolo Barella attempted to create chances for Italy but they saw their efforts being blocked earlier in the game – Greece only had 28% possession in this game despite some of their defence looking good in some parts.
Italy are currently leading Group J with 21 points from 7 matches played and it is no surprise that they were rated highly going into this contest.
On the other hand, Greece are sitting fifth in the group with a mere five points and it is yet to be seen if they will be able to find their luck and find their second win.
