Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham and Norwich’s Teemu Pukki have emerged as surprise contenders for the Golden Boot this season after a fantastic start to life in the Premier League.
Unlike Pukki, Abraham had a relatively slow start to the campaign, drawing criticism from Chelsea fans who questioned his goal-scoring ability.
However, the Englishman has since hit the ground running, scoring a sensational hat-trick against Wolves on Saturday to inspire the Blues to a 5-2 win.
The three goals also saw him pip Pukki to climb to the top of of goalscoring charts with seven goals, on level with Sergio Aguero.
Aguero was on target in Man City’s 3-2 shock defeat to Premier League returnees, Norwich City.
Pukki also found the back of the net during the clash played at Carrow Road to keep his hopes of winning the Golden Boot alive.
Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are the other contenders for the prestigious individual award as they have five goals each.
Last season’s joint winners of the award Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have four goals each, with the latter scoring a brace in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Newcastle at Anfield.
