Nakuru’s Tyson Asiago is the latest to be suspended by Kenya Rugby Union after being handed a 24-week ban effective 6 Sep, 2019.
According to the decision, the charge emanates from an official complaint lodged by KRRA ON THE 20th of August 2019 through their Secretary General Mr. Alfred Okwemba regarding an incident where after the Semi-Final match between Nakuru RFC and Nakuru RFC stones were allegedly thrown aimed at the centre referee Linus Kinuthia.
“That the Match referee Linus Kinuthia had positively identified the person who threw the stone as Mr. Tyson Asiago.”
“It narrowly missed him but however hit Match official Duncan Kioko.”
The misconduct occurred during the National Sevens Circuit “Prinsloo” Sevens Leg on 17th / 18th August 2019 in Nakuru Town.
The 24-week ban will end on Feb 21, 2020. “The Person may note that he has the right to appeal against the decision,” said KRU.
Nakuru Strength and conditioning coach Jotham Owili has been handed a three-week ban from a related issue too.
“The complaint further alleges that immediately after the game, the Centre Match Official was accosted by a Nakuru RFC Official Mr. Jotham Owili in the field of play who made comments to him and questioned his officiating as the centre ref. “
